Review: Hadley Beckett's Next Dish

Hadley Beckett's Next Dish Hadley Beckett's Next Dish by Bethany Turner
My rating: 💛💛💛

This was a cute contemporary and very enjoyable for this foodie. I enjoyed that each chapter started out with a quote from a recipe.

This book started out strong for me, with a lot of promise of great character development. Max was an obvious bad boy, and I did enjoy that his fun and adventurous side brought out some fun in Haddie, who felt more on the serious side. Haddie in turn, grounded Max a bit.

I heard this audiobook is excellent and almost regret not reading that version.

The factors which downgraded this story from a 4 star to a 3 star was more personal. I would have liked deeper character development for Max. Hadley was mentioned as being a Christian and having something different, but that is it. Based on that I would label it more as a clean read. So going in thinking Christian fiction, I found that aspect exceptionally light.

The author has provided an entertaining story with great characters, so I will read more books by this author.

About the book:

Celebrity chef Maxwell Cavanaugh is known for many things: his multiple Michelin stars, his top-rated Culinary Channel show To the Max, and most of all his horrible temper. Hadley Beckett, host of the Culinary Channel's other top-rated show, At Home with Hadley, is beloved for her Southern charm and for making her viewers feel like family.

When Max experiences a very public temper tantrum, he's sent packing to get his life in order. When he returns, career in shambles, his only chance to get back on TV and in the public's good graces is to work alongside Hadley.

As these polar-opposite celeb chefs begin to peel away the layers of public persona and reputation, they will not only discover the key ingredients for getting along, but also learn the secret recipe for unexpected forgiveness . . . and maybe even love. In the meantime, hide the knives.

Fan-favorite Bethany Turner serves up a heaping helping of humor and romance with this thoroughly modern story centered on cooking, enemies, and second chances.
