Review: The Land Beneath Us

The Land Beneath Us The Land Beneath Us by Sarah Sundin
My rating: 💛💛💛💛

I really liked Wyatt and Adler's stories and was excited for Clay's as well.

I loved how the author linked the three books together in each book, with flash backs to the day everything changed, how the brothers service in the war brought their paths to cross which was unexpected, not always the right time, but important in their road to reconciliation.

Clay was a character who did not shy away from what he wanted, fighting for his place, but he was also caring and looked out for others. Yet, he still had to grow and had to deal with unforgiveness he did not realise he still had to face.

Leah was a character, solid in her faith and who rise above circumstances and events thanks to her relationship with God. Her strong character and values won over acquaintances and turned them into friends. I do feel that Leah did work through traumatic events to smoothly, but I think it might be because the story was more focused on the men's internal struggles and growth.

This was a strong series and final book in the stories, bring everything together and giving the readers the HEA they were hoping for.

About the book:

In 1943, Private Clay Paxton trains hard with the U.S. Army Rangers at Camp Forrest, Tennessee, determined to do his best in the upcoming Allied invasion of France. With his future stolen by his brothers' betrayal, Clay has only one thing to live for—fulfilling the recurring dream of his death.

Leah Jones works as a librarian at Camp Forrest, longing to rise above her orphanage upbringing and belong to the community, even as she uses her spare time to search for her real family—the baby sisters she was separated from so long ago.

After Clay saves Leah's life from a brutal attack, he saves her virtue with a marriage of convenience. When he ships out to train in England for D-Day, their letters bind them together over the distance. But can a love strong enough to overcome death grow between them before Clay's recurring dream comes true?
