Book Spotlight Fridays! The Impossible Kid and Never Say Goodbye

Book Beginnings and Friday56

Book Beginnings is a weekly meme hosted by Rose City Reader that asks you to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you're reading. Friday 56 is hosted by Freda's Voice and asks you to grab a book (any book), turn to page 56 or 56% in your e-reader and share a non-spoiler sentence or two.

This week I'm highlighting the non-fiction I'm reading and a Romantic Suspense from one of my favourite authors:

The Impossible Kid: Parenting a Strong-Willed Child with Love and Grace

About the book:

When a mother’s journey begins, one is venturing into the unknown.

It’s hard to imagine what this tiny little baby will be as an adult. My journey was difficult, heart-wrenching, and laborious and yet joyful, worth every tear and strife. My child seemed impossible to me, but God chose me to be the mother of this impossible child. And what we deem impossible, God makes possible (Luke 18:27).

From the introduction
In The Impossible Kid, relationship coach and pastor’s wife Lucille Williams writes an exceptionally honest and funny account of parenting a strong-willed child. Through 11 entertaining chapters, this book provides practical tools for parents to sow seeds of encouragement in their kids as they aspire to raise adults who reflect the nature and character of God. Endorsed by Dr. Gary Smalley, The Impossible Kid is an encouraging and informative read, covering topics including family dysfunctions, feeling like an inadequate parent, creative and effective discipline, parenting with integrity, the dreaded sex talk, learning to laugh together, and keeping God as the focal point in the home.

What's important?  What really matters to you?

Friday 56

Looking at God as the perfect parent, there is much we can learn.  We need to listen and understand what is going on with our kids and not jump to conclusions.  Seek to comprehend what is happening in their world and look at their heart.

My thoughts so far

This is the second book I'm reading by this author.  I enjoy her openness and honesty and can relate a lot.  This book will be published September 1st.

Never Say Goodbye

About the book:

He has 24 hours to find the woman he loves in the wilds of Siberia.

When politics goes south and the leaders of a Russian coup decide to oust all foreigners, former Russian Cobra Captain Roman Novik discovers the woman he loves--whose heart he broke--is out of touch in the backwoods of Siberia. But if he doesn't find her before the authorities do, she'll be arrested...and he'll be branded an enemy of the state.

But American medical missionary Dr. Sarai Curtiss is not about to leave--not with an epidemic on her hands that is taking the lives of Russia's children. Faced with a corrupt government, the military elite tasked with tracking them down, and an out-of-control medical crisis, it will be a race against time--and wills--to save lives, including their own. And the biggest casualty of all just might be their hearts.

Continue the exciting adventures of the Global Guardians series!

Previously published as Sands of Time, Mission: Russia

You always have to be a hero, don't you?

Friday 56

"I sat in the hall all night staring at her locked door."

My thoughts so far

I'm only 24% in but enjoyed what I've read so far.

  1. Oh wow there is a lot going on in Never Say Goodbye, a coup, pandemic, corruption, and, of course, romance! I hope you enjoy both of your reads and have a lovely weekend :)
