Review: Set in Stone

Set in Stone Set in Stone by David James Warren
My rating: 💛💛💛💛💛

Emotions, danger, action, questions and did I mention emotions…this book had it all.

“There will always be storms, Rem. But we can't live in fear of them. We weather them. We get stronger.”

The authors planned and worked on this series for 6 years and I’m so glad I can enjoy the fruit of their hard work. This series is clever, interesting, action-packed and Rem goes through so much and taking his fans (uhm readers) along with him.

This book was a bit different to the others in that we spend time in REM’s new present. And just like Rem we have questions of what happened and discover the answers along with him. I found myself a few times ‘shouting’ along - what happened in Miami!?!

The writing of this series is so well done that some parts are third person and some, from Rem’s POV is first person and he speaks with you and takes you along each step in his journey. We see into his mind, heart and soul and sometimes it is scary and sometimes heartbreaking. I have a feeling a lot of main characters will have to live up to Rem and will be found lacking.

And just when, just like Rem, you are used to his new normal and accept it, TWIST!

I want some things to be exactly the same as the start of book 1 and other things that was new I want to keep - if I feel like this, how conflicted must poor Rem be.

“I'd like to remind you that I'm a guy. We fix things. And a detective. We solve things.”

And I have an idea of who Johnny is…

So come on book 5, bring it on!

*I received a complimentary copy from the author. All opinions expressed are my own.*
