Review: Can't Buy Me Love

Can't Buy Me Love Can't Buy Me Love by Andrea Christenson
My rating: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›

I really enjoyed this story. For the author’s debut it was well rounded story with characters to love and root for, and had my adrenaline pumping at one time. The author did a great job of bringing the same feel to Deep Haven that Susan May Warren had, especially with bringing back some beloved characters - I did not feel a different author was writing their voices.

I thought I had the plot line figured, since it was a new take on Cinderella, but the author kept me surprised with where she took the characters.

Another thing I've discovered is that love is precious. You have to hold on to it for as long as you can."

I enjoyed the theme about finding out who you are in Christ. Do you want to please me or trust that God has the best in stored for you.

Ella, I don't have all the answers. But one thing I do know is that God cares very much. He wants good for you, not bad."

I've found all the scenes with making cleaning material using more natural products and essential oils very interesting, since this is currently a journey I’m on as well.

The only thing weird for me was the name of the male lead, Adrian - my aunt’s name is Adrienne so was difficult to picture a male version of this name.

About the book:

He can’t buy his way out of trouble this time…

Housekeeper-slash-entrepreneur Ella Bradley prides herself on being ready for anything. After all, with a father who died—and lied to her—and a stepmom and stepsister who despise her, she has no one else to depend on. But on the biggest night of her life, she’s unprepared to be trapped in an elevator with the man of her dreams.

Wealthy prince-to-a-fortune Adrian Vassos wants nothing more than to shed his reputation as a party boy and prove that he is a savvy businessman. Even, a gentleman. But when he’s trapped with a woman who knows his reputation but not his face, he gives into the temptation to be someone else—and lies.

When serendipity brings them together again—this time to work off community service—can their combined sentences spark a new ending? Maybe…if Adrian’s lies don’t find him out. Again.

The magic of Deep Haven enchants in this modern-day Cinderella story.

About the author:
