Review: The Mistletoe Countess

The Mistletoe Countess The Mistletoe Countess by Pepper D. Basham
My rating: 💛💛💛💛

This was such an enjoyable story. Sometimes I did wonder if Grace was real with her total innocence and naivety, but her personality was so bubbly and overwhelming, you can't help to love her. The way she interacted with everyone around her was just full of joy and a passion for Life.

Freddie was a great swoon worthy hero and I enjoyed how he wooed Grace during their relationship.

I loved the mystery thread which was also quite an important thread in this story.

Readers who enjoy romance stories, would love this story - it is full of romance, and kissing and talk of marriage. However, if you prefer your romance on the lighter side, all these discussions might not be something you will enjoy.

Like a lot of other readers, I would love a sequel, or third and fourth. I can see just a lot of adventures in store for Grace, Freddie and Blake.

About the book:

Will the magic of Christmas bring these two newlyweds closer together, or will the ghosts of the past lead them into a destructive discovery from which not even a Dickens’s Christmas can save them?

Mistletoe is beautiful and dangerous, much like the woman from Lord Frederick’s Percy’s past, so when he turns over a new leaf and arranges to marry for his estate, instead of his heart, he never expects the wrong bride to be the right choice. Gracelynn Ferguson never expected to take her elder sister’s place as a Christmas bride, but when she’s thrust into the choice, she will trust in her faithful novels and overactive imagination to help her not only win Frederick’s heart but also to solve the murder mystery of Havensbrook Hall before the ghosts from Frederick’s past ruin her fairytale future.

About the author:

Pepper D Basham has been telling tales ever since she was a little girl. When her grandmother called her a “writer” at the age of ten, Pepper took it as gospel and has enjoyed various types of writing styles ever since. A native of the Blue Ridge Mountains, mom of five, speech-language pathologist, and lover of chocolate, Pepper enjoys sprinkling her native Appalachian culture into her fiction wherever she can. She currently resides in the lovely mountains of Asheville, NC, where she works with kids who have special needs, searches for unique hats, and plots new ways to annoy her wonderful friends at her writing blog, The Writer’s Alley.
