Book Spotlight Fridays! Present Danger

Book Beginnings and Friday56

Book Beginnings is a weekly meme hosted by Rose City Reader that asks you to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you're reading. Friday 56 is hosted by Freda's Voice and asks you to grab a book (any book), turn to page 56 or 56% in your e-reader and share a non-spoiler sentence or two.

Elizabeth Goddard is a new name for me under Romantic Suspense.  I'm looking forward to seeing what she delivers in this first book of her new Rocky Mountain Courage series with Revell.

Present Danger

About the book:

Former FBI Special Agent Jack Tanner is working as a detective in Montana when he comes across a body in the national forest during a search and rescue mission. He's committed to finding the killer, even if it means working alongside his old flame, US Forest Service Special Agent Terra Connors.

When Terra discovers that the murder victim had ties to a powerful and dangerous trafficker of archaeological artifacts, the investigation takes a deadly turn--one that hits too close to home. As Terra fears she lacks the courage to face what comes next, Jack is more determined than ever to protect her. But he's failed her before. And if he fails this time, it will cost them far more than just their hearts.

Join bestselling and award-winning author Elizabeth Goddard as she plunges you into a web of deceit made of hidden crimes, open threats, and long-buried family secrets in this gripping first book of an explosive new series

Chance Carter should have known this last delivery wouldn't go down without a hitch.

Friday 56 (22%)

Terra's voice mail came up and drew his attention from the poster.  He ended his fourth attempt to reach her, and this time he didn't leave a voice mail.

My thoughts so far

This started out fast pace.  Got a bit slow when they explained all the Archaeology laws but I think it will pick up again now.  The author did a great job to drop hints of past events and secrets still to be revealed.

  1. I hate it when authors can't figure out how to tell backstory without making the action move forward in an interesting way. Hope it picks up soon. My Friday quotes

  5. I hope you continue to enjoy this and that it picks up again soon. Sometimes all those details can weight down a story but other times it can really enhance it. Hopefully it's the latter! Have a great weekend!
