Book Beginnings and Friday56
Ever since meeting Phil in book one, I couldn't wait for his story!
Honor's Refuge
About the book:
When she was just five years old, Melissa Braxton watched her father take her mother's life. Separated from her sister, Lola, at that time, Melissa grew up with a strong desire to help those stuck in abusive relationships. It's why she became a family therapist and opened a domestic abuse shelter.
After losing a leg to a gunshot wound in the line of duty, Phil Osbourne has felt like a man without a purpose--until he hears Melissa's story and decides to use his Special Forces contacts to track down her missing sister. He knows what he discovers will break Melissa's heart. What he doesn't realize is that helping the women reunite will bring the cartel down on them like the Category 5 hurricane striking Miami.
Bruised yet not quite broken, Melissa and Phil battle the storm and the cartel, calling on strength they didn't know they had to escape death, save the innocent, and--just maybe--find healing in each other's arms.

Book Beginnings
Missy huddled with three-year-old Lola between the nightstand and the bed, praying her little sister would stay asleep.
Friday 56
It didn't take a full minute for two security personnel to come through the doors. Melissa led them to her car and stood back as they relieved Phil of his prisoner.
My thoughts so far
I haven't started this book at the time I have written this post, but I am expecting a great read.

This sounds good. That first line is heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteIt is!
DeleteOof this sounds rather intense, if very intriguing! The cover also definitely draws you in. I hope you enjoy this one as much as the first book! Have a lovely weekend :)

It was quite intense!
DeleteHappy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading Love in Any Language by Hallee Bridgeman. It's really good so far!
"Jorge looked at the clock on the wall of the ready room and sighed. Two-twenty-two. He hated jet lag. He would love it if someone designed a way of travel that didn't kick him in the teeth coming and going."
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
The whole series is good! Hope you get to binge read it.
DeleteMy first line this week is from The Blackout Bookclub by Amy Lynn Green:
ReplyDeleteAvis gripped the ladder as her husband climbed, a thick swath of black bunting draped over his shoulder.
I still need to read Amy Lynn Green!
DeleteGreat snippets and cover! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought at the first line was "oh ****". It sounds extremely tense. I hope you enjoy the read x
ReplyDeleteIt was but the author did a great job with balancing the difficult parts with more easy sections.
DeleteI love the cover of Authentically Izzy and hope the story is just as cute!
