Review: The Bones Will Speak

The Bones Will Speak The Bones Will Speak by Carrie Stuart Parks
My rating: 💛💛💛💛

I've put this series on hold after I read book one - for some reason I just found it okay. But I kept seeing great reviews and awards going towards this series, so though I will give it another try. I did like book one a bit better after I reread it, but really liked this second book in the series.

I think I finally got Gwen - I'm starting to understand where her humor and personality is coming from and enjoyed it in this book. I also enjoyed the subject matter of this book a lot more than book one.

The suspense plot was thrilling, captivating and I had my idea of who it might be and was totally wrong. The action was nail biting and the way we saw it from Gwen's POV made this reader feel like I was right there, next to her.

Gwen, with her dry sense of humour and struggle to forgive, will also be a relatable character with a lot of readers, since we all have something in our past we might still need to fully let go through forgiveness.

Recommended to fans of romantic suspense.

About the book:

Forensic artist Gwen Marcey has become the target of a serial killer who believes he's been appointed God's executioner.

In Copper Creek, Montana, Gwen Marcey is struggling to put together her life after cancer and divorce. When her dog retrieves a skull of a murder victim and leads her to the victim's grave, Gwen uses her forensic art ability to identify a serial killer. She is horrified to discover all the victims look like her fourteen-year-old daughter.

The murderer is a "lone wolf," a member of the terrorist group Phineas Priesthood—and he has a score to settle with Gwen. Unraveling the tangled Christian Identity movement, where race—not grace—provides salvation, Gwen is in a frantic rush against time. She must use all her skills to uncover the killer before he can carry out his threat to destroy her and everyone she loves.
