Book Spotlight Fridays! Death Triangle

Book Beginnings and Friday56

Book Beginnings is a weekly meme hosted by Rose City Reader that asks you to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you're reading. Friday 56 is hosted by Freda's Voice and asks you to grab a book (any book), turn to page 56 or 56% in your e-reader and share a non-spoiler sentence or two.

This one sounds a bit too real with a virus used as a Bioweapon and the reasons behind that.

Death Triangle

About the book:

No one suspects that the deadly pharmaceutical and viral disasters ravaging the African continent have been the fallout from one person’s intent to acquire immortality.

Not until two pregnant teenagers escape their captors and stumble into an African refugee camp.

When one of the escapees suffers a strange and bloody death, Dr. Rachel Allen, an infectious disease specialist aboard a humanitarian medical ship ported on the Central African coast is summoned to the Congo. Despite the danger, Rachel answers the plea of the refugee camp’s only doctor and leaves her post. But by the time she discovers the ancient virus she believed securely held in an American vault has been weaponized, it is too late to call for help. If this new potential bioweapon is launched beyond the borders of Africa, it will destroy more than the world. It will destroy everything she believes to be true about the man she loved.

Buckle in.

Book Beginnings

Gray shadows hovered like formless ghosts as Vumi Mudimbi followed the rambling game path carved through the moabi trees.

Friday 56

"Hurry, Josiah.  Something is not right."

My thoughts so far

Viruses as bioweapons seems to be the theme this year.  This is getting interesting.

    1. There were times I was over this whole virus thing, but it was a good medical thriller

  2. Yeah this one might feel a little too real to me, even though our current virus is very much accidental and not a bioweapon xD Also not a big fan of trying to contain something this deadly to Africa as if that's fine. I hope you enjoy this one though, as much as that's possible with the death, love betrayals and viruses! Have a lovely weekend :)

  3. I love a good medical thriller. I used to devour Robin Cook's books when I was younger. And this one is set in Africa. I will definitely take a look!

  5. I think this would be a hard read at this moment. I read 56 days and it was a struggle, but I made it through it!

  7. I am with several others, I just can't deal with things like this right now. I was going to try Airborne by DiAnn Mills and ended up sending it back to the library. Another time, perhaps. Have a great weekend.

  8. Medical thriller is on subgenre that I tend to avoid. Dealing with medical issues for real is scary enough. I do hope you enjoy it.
