Review: Active Defense

Active Defense Active Defense by Lynette Eason
My rating: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›

From the first chapter I knew I will love this one and I was not disappointed. This was filled with suspense and action, but also friendship, family and new beginnings. Lynette Eason kept me guessing right through out this story. Up to 49% I had no idea who it could be and then between that and 80% I probably changed my mind every minute and even though the person was a suspect, I was still surprised. If your favourite genre is suspense (like mine), you will love this book and series.

I loved Travis - it might be the cowboy thing - I think he was my favourite hero of the series so far. He was strong but also got hurt and it was funny that this big strong cowboy was afraid of doctors.

In this series, the author tackles difficult issues, and in this book it was abusive homes. The author handled this with sensitivity but also revealing what certain children unfortunately deal with. As a mom who goes tiger-crazy if someone just looks funny at my boys, I can't think how you can harm your own child.

Something else I loved about this book is too see a bit more of the friendship between the three guys.

I'm looking forward to the next book, but at the same time want to delay ending this series, which for me is one of the author's best to date. The author got the perfect balance between suspense, romance and dealing with deeper and emotional subjects.

About the book:

As a former field surgeon in Afghanistan, Heather Fontaine is used to life-or-death situations. She just didn't expect them to follow her home. When she returns from a party to find that someone has broken into her house--and threatened her friends--she assumes it is the stalker who has been following her and creeping her out. She hopes to find safety and peace of mind by leaving the city and hiding out in a small town. But trouble has followed her even there.

Luckily, a stalker isn't the only one watching Heather. Travis Walker has been secretly watching out for her for weeks. As owner of his own security agency, it's what he does. Together, Travis and Heather must figure out who wants her dead--and why--before it's too late.
