This was a wonderful dual-time story which portrayed the beauty of second chances and a redeemed life after you have made mistakes but asked for repentance and turned your life back to God.

I enjoyed both timelines, mainly because Daisy was a powerful lead in both timelines. I enjoyed her present day wisdom she had from the choices and life she loved in the past.

This is a story which is worth a read.

I enjoyed this second book in the series.

Both characters went through struggles and growth - Sophia trying to find her place and build a horse training school in a man’s world. And Aaron with the label of illegitimate which he allowed to define himself and his place among his friends. I loved how he found his place after he broken away from that banner.

This different take on the Beauty and the beast plot was refreshing, captivating and realistic.

I loved the time the author took to develop the relationship between Otis and Sadie. It was not insta love, but a civil acquaintance relationship, helping each other out, turning to friendship, growing into love.

Sadie had such a pure heart, and I enjoyed the influence she had on the grumpy, reclusive Otis and how she showed him beauty is far more than how someone looks.

I loved all the scenes between Sadie and her family, they were quite a loud lively bunch, and the old couple managing Otis’s estate was a perfect support couple who was almost like grandparents to Otis and Sadie.

One Last Stand was filled with life threatening events from beginning to the end. All the spies included in this story upped the thrill factor and some favourite characters from the author’s previous spy series (Ziggy anyone), added to the enjoyment of this final book in the series.

This story also crossed international borders from Alaska to Europe which included a palace, a prince and some Marshalls.

Though a few threads concluded in this book, the author left us with a lot of breadcrumbs for the promise of more to come in future series. There was also mention of events in a separate series (Cashing Fire Montana) – you do not need to read that series to complete this series.

Again, the spiritual lessons included in the series was strong and relevant to what the characters were struggling with.
