Book Cover Reveal! RIOT

Another cute Cover what I am expecting to be a suspenseful story with a cute furry four pawed hero!

Available for pre-order:

Synopsis

Navy SEAL K-9 handler Beau “Danger” Maddox is at the top of his game—until an op goes south, leaving him physically and mentally scarred. Separated from the Navy, he’s determined to requalify as operational and get back in the action so he can take down the deadly South American cartel that killed his team. The last thing he needs is a distraction in the form of a beautiful new neighbor and her dog…

Trafficking survivor Paisley Reyna became a trauma counselor to help others after a harrowing captivity at the hands of the notorious Guerrero Cartel. When she unexpectedly inherits her cousin’s home and retired military working dog, Riot, she seizes the chance to eke out a quiet life in a small town in Texas. However, the Dutch shepherd upends her plans, destroys her belongings, and repeatedly escapes next door to the intense former SEAL, who poses a threat to her peace—and maybe even her heart.

When the local sheriff asks for Danger’s expertise and Paisley’s dog to intercept a trafficking deal, they’re quickly caught up in a battle against the very cartel that marked both their souls. Along with a paramilitary team, they plunge deeper and deeper into the Venezuelan jungle—all too aware that making it out alive a second time will take nothing short of a miracle.

Can't Wait Wednesday! Fragile Designs

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings that spotlights and discusses the books we're excited about that we've yet to read. Generally, they're books that are yet to be released. It's based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Colleen Coble remains an auto-buy author.  This one releases January 2024.

About the book: Fragile Designs

Family secrets can be the most dangerous of all. When Carly Tucker’s police-officer husband is killed during a home break-in, she knows that her side hustle finding the antique treasures at flea markets isn’t enough to support her and their infant son, Noah. So her grandmother’s proposal to have her and her two sisters restore the family’s waterfront Beaufort home into a bed-and-breakfast--that Carly will run--is immediately intriguing. But it’s equally daunting with the animosity that exists between the three sisters. What Carly never expected as she begins to go through the attic was to find a letter in a trunk, written in her husband’s handwriting . . . dated two days before his death. Eric had discovered that Carly’s grandmother was adopted--a fact Carly is certain Gram is not aware of--and had already begun trying to track down her birth family. Is it possible that Eric’s death wasn’t random after all? With few options, Carly reaches out to Gram’s neighbor Simon—and the older brother of her high school sweetheart--who is a local homicide detective. One of the items in the trunk is an enameled egg. If it truly is a Faberge egg, the value could set Carly up for life . . . and would certainly be worth killing for. The journey to find the truth and protect her family will have Carly delving deep into the lost treasures of Eastern Europe--if she and Simon can survive that long.

Review: Creed

Creed Creed by Susan May Warren
My rating: 💛💛💛💛

Creed was a wonderful conclusion to an exciting, adventurous series about the Minnesota Marshalls.

Creed was such a deep character, one of those characters who doesn’t see his own worth and inner strength. With his start in life and having 3 older hero-type brothers, as well as not feeling 100% like a Marshall because he was adopted, Creed struggled with a lot of struggles, but also could not say no when his instinct was to step up and protect the people he cares about.

Imani was also a wonderful female lead – one who also struggled with her own questions to find her place in the new world she fell into.

This final book included heartache, danger, action, villains who was obvious and some not so much, and features of some of the best Marshall characters we have me until this book.

To get a complete appreciation of all things Marshall, you need to start with the Montana Marshall series. Seems there is also another series I need to read written by a different author about Imani and her mom’s journey to the royal world.

Together, they race against time to unravel a web of deceit and conspiracy that seems to entrap the entire family. Review: Iris

Iris Iris by Susan May Warren
My rating: 💛💛💛💛

Iris continued the thrilling pace and suspenseful events where Ned left us hanging. This series should be read in order.

Iris is a strong independent woman – how can she not be with three older brothers. Hudson was an everyday man who stepped out into danger when required. I enjoyed the references to Thor and Chris Hemsworth with his sight Australian accent.

All the football detail was interesting to learn more about and was a change in the pace of danger and espionage.

I enjoyed how Hudson and Iris went from enemies, to friends, to more, and how Iris wanted to remain her independence even though Hudson and the males in her family wanted to come to her rescue.

Susan May Warren has a talent to combine the physical plot and danger to spiritual truths and lessons and bringing the characters closer to God. It is something I always appreciate about this author’s writing.

An exciting series which will keep you up late into the night.

About the book:

Iris Marshall never wanted to be anything more than what she is—an official for the European League of (American) Football. So, why she said yes to being a courier for the CIA? She’s not sure, especially when it lands her in an international thriller that has her on the run from a killer. And worse, the person she’s on the run with? Arrogant, bossy, playboy Hudson Bly football player and the last person on earth she wants to go into hiding with.

Hudson knows his days as a wide-receiver are numbered. Too many head injuries, starting with a violent TBI in college have caught up with him. So yes, he agreed to be a patriot, do his bit for the USA and courier a message between agents. He never expected for that simple act to ignite an international man-hunt for the official who wrecked his life, Iris Marshall. But what’s a guy to do—let her get killed?

But spending time with Iris has ignited a desire in him that takes him by surprise, and for Iris, maybe Hudson is more than she thought.

But who is after Iris? When one of her fellow officials is murdered, maybe the killer is after more than just her—maybe she’s found herself in the middle of an international plot to take down a country.

It’ll take the help of the entire family to keep Iris safe…but at what cost when they have to choose between their careers…and their country?

Join the Marshall family in book four of the thrilling romantic adventure!

Can't Wait Wednesday! When the Waters Came

This series based on historical natural disasters looks interesting.  This one releases January 2024.

About the book: When the Waters Came

Did God Send a Flood to Wipe Out Evil?
Introducing a new series of 6 exciting novels featuring historic American disasters that transformed landscapes and multiple lives. Whether by nature or by man, these disasters changed history and were a day to be remembered.

Pastor Montgomery Childs has tended his flock in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, for two years. While his pews are full every Sunday, he most desires to see a reckoning between God and the kings of industry who recreate on Lake Conemaugh. The pleasure grounds, flowing alcohol, and business dealings of the South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club taunts Monty as he works to heal the wounds inflicted from his own privileged childhood among Pittsburgh society. Like Noah, Monty prays against the evil surrounding him, but he never expects God to send a flood.

It takes five days for the Red Cross to respond to the Johnstown flood disaster, but when it does, Annamae Worthington is ready to help. Apprenticing under Clara Barton has prepared her for the job, but nothing can prepare her for the death and destruction that awaits. As if the survivors haven’t suffered enough, typhoid fever ravages those left in the town, leaving Annamae and the Red Cross with limited assistance and supplies.

Narrowly surviving the flood and the horrifying things he’s witnessed, Monty’s faith is floundering. Then a Red Cross nurse puts him to work helping with the typhoid fever victims arriving at the hospital tents every hour. Monty and Annamae work together distributing supplies, housing survivors, and preparing the dead. Slowly, his faith resurfaces. A kinship forms between them neither can ignore. But when an investigation into the collapsed dam points to the South Fork Hunting and Fishing Club, secrets emerge that may tear them apart.

Blue Columbine

About the book:

Best friends—maybe more—until addiction shatters everything.

Reeling from professional failure, Andrew Harris needs a fresh start. When he moves back to Colorado to join a Denver law firm, he runs into Jamie, his childhood sweetheart. She is still the kind and faithful girl he remembers—not to mention beautiful and still single. With her by his side, Andrew is confident he can overcome the demons that he tries to keep hidden.

Jamie Carson is thrown off balance when Andy resurfaces in her life. Though her faith in God has remained solid, even through her mother’s long illness and after her death, Jamie battles loneliness. Andy fills her days, whispering significance to her heart. But his rejection of the faith she thought they’d once shared, and his alarming drinking habit keep her heart from plunging into deep, murky waters. Or do they?

Andy pursues an intimacy Jamie knows she must guard against. But as the line between loyalty and love blurs, things get complicated—until a devastating blow breaks their relationship. For Jamie, one thing becomes clear: Andy needs a miracle, and she isn’t it.

Will Andrew allow the hand of grace to redeem his legacy of addiction, or will he and Jamie both remain casualties of heartbreak?

This Christian Fiction Book dives into first love and second chances, romance and redemption.

This one is a bit lighter than the WW2 book I finished, but think it will get a bit heavier since it deals with a harder topic.

Review: The Warsaw Sisters

The Warsaw Sisters The Warsaw Sisters by Amanda Barratt
My rating: 💛💛💛💛

This WW2 story was a slower read than I expected. Not because it was not good, but because it was filled with so much grim detail, loss, hardships but also hope.

To Live without hope of freedom is not to live at all.

This was my first novel by this author, and it is evident that the author did a lot of research about one of the countries who experienced WW2 at its worst.

Readers who do not enjoy too much detail might not enjoy this story, it did not shy away from showing the truth, giving the facts, and opening the eyes of readers. But it was also so much more. It was about two sisters who stepped out to fight for others, people remaining strong, hopeful and holding on to their faith, though others did their best to bring them down.

There were happy endings and not so happy endings, but at the end I was left with this feeling of hope, because standing together, we will always remain strong.
